The Discrete Anisotropic Radiative Transfer Model (DART) 2026 Thematic School

DART 2026 Thematic School

The DART (Discrete Anisotropic Radiative Transfer Model) 2026 Thematic School will take place from June 1 to 4, 2026 at Toulouse, France.

This training aims to provide a deeper understanding of radiation interactions with terrestrial surfaces and the atmosphere, a key issue for:

  • interpreting remote sensing signals,
  • modeling land surface processes involving radiation.

Developed at CESBIO since 1992, DART (http://dart.omp.eu) is one of the most comprehensive and accurate 3D radiative transfer models in the remote sensing community. Patented in 2003, it enables the simulation of both surface radiation budgets and remote sensing observations for all types of natural and urban landscapes.

The training will enable participants to:

  • understand the challenges and needs of radiative transfer modeling,
  • explore the state of the art of DART and its applications,
  • deepen their knowledge of remote sensing physics and radiative transfer theory,
  • gain hands-on experience using DART to simulate observations and radiation budgets,
  • apply DART to their own research projects.

Registration is open until April 17, 2026.
